Quick, Thanks for being my newest buddy

Hello Quick68. Yes, the price of R12 has gone though the roof due to limited availability and the required recycling process. I haven't read anything that states that R134a is "better". When I was a teen I remember K-Mart selling R12 for $.88 a can. Wow. The new household units require R410a in leu of R22. It is the same senerio as vehicles. I'm glad you still had a can at the old (e.g. very old) prices. Take care - Dan

I found that with our MG. The price for these things bottoms out at about $6,000 in decent shape and goes up from there depending on how well it is maintained/restored.

I forgot about the insurance savings. Good point about that. Add that on top of no car loan and no depreciation makes for significant dollars in your pocket. We cretainly have a lot to thanks our Dads for, don't we.

Passing along well maintained vehicles seems to be a real problem these days as everyone seems to want the latest and greatest available. I take exceptional care with all my vehicles and pass them along in very good shape. There is no value given to them in spite of the years of care that went into them so it makes you wonder if there really was any point in paying attention to them. Even if there is no financial value in the effort, I still won't stop being nice to my vehicles as I really enjoy taking good care of them.
