small engine manufactory must love the stuff as you have to keep buying new equipment or pay dearly for the parts and labor to repair them. None of the stations around here have e-15 or real gas. Two years ago the premium was only 5% but its all 10% now. I paid dearly with replacement parts that just dissolved this past summer. Fortunately I'm able to repair my own equipment, and just have to pay for the parts.

There were some fairly good reasons a few years ago to "stretch" our fuel with ethanol. None exist now. Drivers have learned ethanol doesn't work so good (poor millage) and it may damage some engines (poor us). But if corn farmers are that hard up why not go back to the days of paying them not to raise corn and so forth. Or better yet, quit using my tax dollars to pay refiners to buy ethanol which I don't like to use anyway which forces up the prices of corn which makes feed and meat products higher. Oh well...I can't think of one good thing this does except help make a bunch of corporate corn farmers up around Nebraska rich. They need to get back to tending to their football and stuff that they know about. Just sayin....

At least it isn't mandatory to use. I am still concerned that if it is cheaper, gas stations will only sell E15 and cause problems with cars. I also don't think taking food and converting it to fuel is a good idea.

People complained about "unleaded gas" and E-10. Since more and more ethanol is being made with biomass and not corn. According to The U.S. Departments of Energy and Agriculture's Billion-Ton Study found that we can grow adequate biomass feedstocks to displace approximately 30 percent of current gasoline consumption by 2030 on a sustainable basis. A 30% drop in current gas uses and better mileage means OPEC can eat their oil.

I have no problem using it...I just have concerns that there are still many vehicles on the road today that can't use it and if they do, it will harm their engines.

As an automotive repair shop owner I guess we will see an even higher failure rate of fuel pumps.

I have usually used ethanol/gasohol (E10?) in my vehicles for pretty much as long as ethanol has been around and I have never had a fuel system related problem. I have put 100s of 1,000s of miles on vehicles and never had one have fuel related issues.
Even snopes weighed in on the subject: http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/e15.asp
As we know though, ethanol blends are not for every vehicle. Wikipedia addresses most of the blends here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E10_fuel#E10_or_less
-----------
As far as not eating field corn, which is used for ethanol, field corn on the cob _can_ be eaten like sweet corn on the cob early in the ear development and while not as good as sweet corn, it is pretty good. Field corn is also used for indirect human consumption, I believe most commonly in cereals and in corn syrup used in many soft drinks and many foods. It is likely you "eat" field corn every day.
From http://www.ethanol.org/news/index.php?newsid=4 "Many don't realize that corn for ethanol and corn for human consumption are two different types. Field corn, the type used to feed livestock, goes into ethanol production. Sweet corn, a very small portion of the U.S. crop, is the type eaten by humans."
Also visit this site for more information on field corn usage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_corn
-----------
As far as ethanol giving you lower fuel mileage, I've run current my truck, the first one I've owned that is rated for Flex Fuel, on all grades of fuel, including E85. The more the ethanol, the lower the fuel mileage. In my opinion, the consumer needs to weigh the age of their vehicle and the cost per gallon per mile for each fuel grade. If it cost less per mile to run E85 then run E85. If it costs less per mile to use Premium, or E10, then run those. Lately I run E10 only because I'm too lazy to do the cost per mile comparisons.
Since the group subject is E-15, I'll state that to the best of my knowledge, for ethanol fuels, I've only run E-10 and E-85. I don't even know where to buy E-15 in the Omaha area.
Just my $0.02!

They may say that it is OK to use, but my personal cars dropped over 10% using E-10 and my Lincoln check engine light comes on when I use E10. I want to use 1005 gas

An article this last week said any vehicle manufactured in 2001 or later could use E15 without harm. Guess some of these people do not live in the real world where people have to, because of economics, drive a vehicle older than that. Just another way to control the population and the economy.

It has become apparent that congress and our justice system has been bought and paid for. Another example of justice being bought and paid for can be found if you google "Kids for cash scandal" It is really wild that the prosecutor who refused to prosecute the corrupt judges replace one of the corrupt judges who was successfully prosecuted federally.

The 10% that we have now are damaging enough. It destroys 2 cycle motors like chain saws. Also damaging to lawn mowers. Those in the business rather buy a $4 or $5 quart of pure gas to run on soas to save their equipment. Bottom line is Bush Nut ethanol mandate sucks and so does the EPA.
