American Suzuki files Chapter 11 bankruptcy

GasBuddy Blog -- Automotive News reported this week that American Suzuki Motor Corp., plagued by plummeting sales volume while the industry has climbed back from recession, is ending U.S. auto sales after nearly 30 years. It has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company said it will maintain its motorcycle and marine engine business units and will continue to honor auto customers' warranties. Japanese parent Suzuki Motor Corp. is not seeking protection from creditors, the company said.

In its filing, American Suzuki said it "has exhausted all available means to reduce the cost of operating the Automotive Division for it to operate profitably."

The automaker joins Daihatsu, Isuzu and Daewoo as smaller Asian brands...

Suzuki came late to the jap sushi roll car party when clueless people thougth "japanese were better", and now, like Dihatsu and a few others, is gone. They never had much going for them.

American Suzuki files Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A related article on Nov 5, 6, 'Suzuki to stop U.S. auto sales, exit market.' Suzuki will keep the motorcycle and marine engine business and honor the auto customer warranties.
Are they still making Suzuki's autos? You never hear them advertized or ever see one on the road. Another manufacturer taken out with Sneeky's failed economy. A 50mpg vehicle would sell in this economy and it would not matter what the quality of the vehicle was. And that Fiat (Fix It Again Tony) is on the road too! What will happen next?
'Coming out of the closet' Sneeky's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the 'jobs' are Not here and more businesses have to close their doors. Sneeky's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down. AND, another four years of doom and gloom, when will it ever improve?
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Too bad, but stopping the losses on the cars will hopefully keep the motorcycles, outboards, etc. in business.

It was to be expected, there is a lot of competition out there and Suzuki didn't have a remarkable product.
