Not very impressive. The first car I bought in '95, got about 35 mpg on the highway when I bought it. Fourteen years and 200,000 miles later, it was still getting 30-31 mpg.

I am not impressed with 23.9 avg MPG. I can remember decades ago many cars were able to get that kind of mileage out of a gallon of fuel. True, we have different emission standards, fuel mixtures, etc. that cut into that but, somehow I would think we would be able to at least exceed that two fold.

Wow! My cars average 24.6 and hit 40 straight highway driving. Oh, the newest is a 2000 bifuel Contour. Time to catch up to the past.

How nice. Now, is that 23.8 mpg on pure gasoline or on the EPA's mandated 10% (and soon to be 15%) ethanol-laced gasoline? Do you trust the Federal government's "Ethanol Promotion Agency" to give you the straight skinny on this question?

I like seeing the increased fuel economy, but at what additional cost (new car sales price)is this being accomplished? In the end, we're either paying more for the car or more for the gas.

With people cramped in like sardines and no baggage, yep, great mileage! That is if a person can stand up when they get to their destination. If they managed to get off the sidewalk without getting crushed first!

Except for people that need a certain type of vehicle for work, with the price of gas as high as it is and probably going to go higher, it makes sense that the mpg avergae should go up
