How do you determine when to change your oil?
The owner's manual
The on-board computer
The sticker from previous service
When I think it needs it
Reminder in the mail (or e-mail, etc.)
I mark my calendar or planner
Someone else takes care of it
Oil change, what's that?

Grandma's car is in for service on Wednesday. Her vehicle's official interval is 12 months or when ever the OLM goes off.

In reality she get it serviced every 3,000 miles. Which for her would have been about 8-9 months. But we've been running it a bit longer the last month and a half. So I'd say 4-5,000 miles? It also seems to be burning some oil so for her. Changing it after 9 months and getting it checked out/serviced for a Bad Wheel Bearing(s) before Winter begins is a good idea.

My vehicle is 6 months /6,000 miles (with an OLM which tends to go off around 8,000 miles)... I usually tend to try and get it serviced 3 times a year. Just so, like my Grandma's car, I tend to stay on top of issues before they become big problems.

Every 5000 miles (approx 2-3 months). Bought lifetime lube, oil (synthetic blend) and filter for $99 when I bought the car. Right now, that's about $6.50 per change.
