Bank rate -- Looking for a bargain on a new car? Buying an outgoing 2012 model may be the way to save money.

With most of the 2013 model-year cars rolling onto the lots, dealers are anxious to clear their stock of last year's models by offering great 2012 car deals. Even with the discounts, not every deal may be the wisest financial choice.

In some cases, the gas mileage is not that great. And the quality of some of these is a bit questionable.

The one SUV gets 18mpg? We have a 02 Suzuki XL7 with 120000 on it that get over 18mpg around town. And $20 or $30K for a car, isn't that like a years pay for some or at least 1/2 or 1/4 of a years pay.
