I am more concerned about drivers of all ages who can't seem to put down their cell phone and drive.

I don't see anything wrong with needing to take a driver's exam more often after reaching advanced age. I'm not sure what that age is but insurance company data probably would peg it at about age 75. I know people don't want to give up driving but most would rather do that than live with the guilt of injuring or killing another person. I think most older people know when it's time to hang up the keys.

Will that translate into lower rates for older drivers?

It's not necessarily the age of the driver, it's how responsible and responsive the person is.

“A general statement like this is BS.”
No, a statement like this is based on statistics. There will always be exceptions. The incident where an elderly driver steps on the gas instead of the brake and rams thru a store front will always make the news — but it is a rare event. Elderly drivers may be a bit overly cautious but in so doing they tend be more of an obstacle on the road than an overt hazard. I’ll take my chances with grandpa using extra time to complete a left turn compared to junior texting his girlfriend at the same intersection.

Watching most elderly drive, you just need to slow down a little and share the road.

Most prone to accidents has always been young male driver. Add texting to ills of young drivers and they sure come up worse.

Most of the elderly I see on the road can't see over the steering wheel, don't signal for turns, and drive 5mph to 10mph under the speed limit. Talk about a hazard.

OLDER DRIVERS HAVE ALWAYS HAD SOME SLIGHT MANEUVERING ISSUES... YEARS AGO, IT WAS USUALLY A MAILBOX OR THREE... NOW, IT'S TOTAL CHAOS ON THE ROADWAYS... SOME HAVE TAKEN-OUT SIX TO SEVEN CARS LIKE DERBY NIGHT AT THE FAIR GROUNDS... BUT, LATELY IT'S HOW TOO RUN INTO A FAMILY RESTAURANT... NEW YORK STYLE...

Of all places for this to come from: the auto insurance industry. And what are these people good for. Taking your money because the seem to have this self appointed right to play with your money. Then they turn around and compile massive amounts of worthless 'information?' just to justify their taking your money and playing with it!

Calif took my granddad's DL away from him when he was 85. My mom took my dad's driving privileges away when he was 76. Both for good reason.

The worst drivers are still the youngest ones there is no doubt. For every old fool that mistakes his gas pedal for the brake there is a young fool that thinks he is a F1 pilot in a pickup truck.
