still about money. Odd how this is one of the few places that shows a decrease.

Seems that it depends on the intersection and how long the yellow light lasts.

The intersections where I saw them seemed to work well. They were removed though because the installers reduced the time the yellow light was on, causing more red light runners and more tickets.

I'm not so sure about this. I see people come to very abrupt stops due to red light cams, when they would otherwise scoot through the yellow light.

Slam on your brakes or speed up to make the light. I hate red-light camera intersections. I purposely avoid them.

something don't sound right about this story, there's nothing safe about 98,062 people running red lights.

Intersections with cameras takes the guess work away from the red light runner.

So cameras are a plus for revenue and a plus for safety? hard to argue against that but seems to be very stringent on issuing tickets. Word gets around and drivers are more aware of not going through red lights.

More bad drivers in Miami than other parts of the state. Never have been a big fan of the red light camera.

The problem is when law enforcement or contractors DEPENDS on the money from these cameras to operate, then you see abuse.

Courts are still divided on this tactic, all I know is too many drivers are out of control.

do what you need to do to stop and fine drivers that break the traffic laws... and harm other people... remmember... if you are hit by a red-light burner... yes your insurance will pay the repairs... but the time and anguish the loss of the vehicle cause... let alone any injuries... is NOT acceptable.

if people KNOW about camera-covered intersections, they behave better there. Why not put signs at ALL intersections that "hidden camera is in use", even if there is not one there ? The psychological effect would be safer drivers.

I don't like cameras in any capacity. If an officer can't catch them correctly, then a camera shouldn't be allowed, period.

Of course they will say that they are improving things. The money generated from the tickets issued, goes directly back to their department.
