For the Record: Gasoline was Most Expensive in 2012

Wall Street Journal -- It is now official: the average price of a gallon of gasoline was higher in 2012 than any year on record, according to data from the American Automobile Association, or AAA. The national average price of for the year was $3.60 a gallon, a significant jump from the previous record of $3.51 set in 2011. While 2008 is famous for a huge summer spike that drove the average above $4 a gallon, price weren’t as consistently high as this year, leaving 2008 in third place overall at $3.25. “Record high gas prices have made this the most expensive year yet for motorists,” said AAA spokesman Avery Ash. “Factors as volatile as major hurricanes, refinery outages and tension in the Middle East resulted in significant frustration for people filling up their cars.”

With it being the most expensive year in forever - Does it mention the amount of gallons used? I have seen the immense damage to the travel industry (those traveling with 5th wheels, and trailer parks). It may have been the most expensive, but any idea on how much we used?

Most expensive gas in history, grocery prices up and the government is grossly under-reporting inflation. So, the republicans want to cut cost of living increases for those on Social Security and military retirees. I USED to consider myself a republican.

Rather obvious to anyone who fills up at the pump.

Oh, looks like the idiot RepubliTWITS, led by greasy boy Cantor in the house, are willing to vote against the Senate compromise bill to avoid the cliff - that action will increase taxes on everyone! We must vote all the obstructionist Tea Tards OUT in 2014. They have yet to learn the basic lessons of democracy and politics and do not know the meaning of compromise! As I have said many times, The RepubliTWITS only care for the very wealthy and don't care at all about the middle class.

THESE ARE LIES.
I have heard for yeats about these external factors influencing the prices of gas, but even when none of these things were happening prices spiked, or dipped and there was some other 'reason' - well the TRUTH is

Oil comanies want to make the most amount of money possible- like every company on the face of the planet-

The just want us to feel like they care, but they are not victims of circumstance, the consumer is!

I think that the people who are sighting such things as the hurricanes, refinery outages and tension in the Middle East are grasping at straws. None of those things are new. None of those things are significantly worse than they have been in the past. There has been tension in hte Middle East since Cain killed Abel. The gas prices in this country are subject to the policies in this country, which are set forth by the leaders in this country.
