Prices on both gasoline and diesel are STILL dropping in Southern California. In my area, there's actually "gas war" action happening at the low end of the price scale, with two independents battling with Costco to be the lowest regular. This is causing a number of the "mid-price" retailers in the area to drop their regular 15¢ below, sometimes 18¢, below 89 octane "mid-grade." One good trend is that some retailers, both independents and majors, are now getting smart and are taking advantage of dumbbell drivers who buy premium. One station had a 20¢ spread from mid-grade to premium, putting it back over $4...and idiots were buying it! 99.5% of the cars on the road DO NOT NEED PREMIUM...OR "mid-grade!" But hey, let them pay for our 87 regular! Only saps and Corvette or Viper drivers NEED premium. Otherwise, you're making the oil refiners VERY happy.

"Out here, name brand gas continues to inch downward, but generic gas has leveled off and crept up a little. " --jcurley
What you're seeing there is a leading indicator that the market has found a "bottom." With a near-monopoly in place in the CA refining business (currently under investigation by the Attorney General's and Governor's offices) you're going to see this effect every time they feel it's time to throw a plug into falling prices..."they" being the REFINERS. Right now in Southern CA, ARCO is the downward price leader (as always) but isn't supplying the "independents" like they were a month ago. So you'll see what I call "dairy gas" going for $3.85 while ARCO is down now around $3.65. Once the bottom has been formed, "dairy gas" will climb faster. One smaller refiner who's pricing themselves out of the market: Valero. They should be gone from the market by next year. They're overplaying their hand in manipulatin the ethonol market, and are jacking up retail fuel prices to fund purchases of ethanol producers.

If the cops are really looking for impaired drivers they should venture out on the highways around here during commute time on any given day. Between cell phone abuse, makeup application and that dip sh*t reading his ipad, I'm sure they could have plenty of reasons to create extra revenue for the cities, counties and state. Why just do it on a holiday?

$3.18 for regular is the lowest price where I live but I see as high as $3.89 and those stations are about 3 blocks from each other. The one with the cheapest gas also has the best beer cooler!

Now there's a reason to increase gas prices "AAA predicts that 43.6 million Americans will travel, and 90 percent of them will drive."
