Gasoline prices on the rise — again

dailybreeze -- Southland gasoline prices posted their first weekly double-digit spike of the year Thursday as they edged closer to $4 per gallon.

One industry analyst figures we'll be there by Valentine's Day, although some stations already have hit that level.

Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California attributed the climbing prices to the usual culprits - high oil prices, Middle East tensions, local refinery incidents and refineries being brought down for maintenance as they prepare to produce their summer blend of gas.

Rob Schlichting, a spokesman for the California Energy Commission, refined that even more.

"An increase in the cost of crude oil from the Alaskan North Slope accounted for 7.5 cents of that 10 cent increase," he said.

California gets 12 percent of

Definitely not a surprise. The article points out the worst, when there is either a fire or maintenance. Here in Northern California, there is no inexpensive alternatives if local refinery production is down. Just like in the Southland.

Fuel prices are up 20 cents a gallon in Houston. So much for the purported news articles of our glut of oil, and prices would go down.

why wold maintenance and switch over to summer gas cause an increase... will we see a shortage? NO! do they have stock to bridge the shut down period? YE!
so what is this hype that the shutdown causes a spike in prices?

Up 19 cents/gal. here with supplies still on the increase and demand still declining. This is sure to make sure our economy continues to deteriorate.
