Definitely not a surprise. The article points out the worst, when there is either a fire or maintenance. Here in Northern California, there is no inexpensive alternatives if local refinery production is down. Just like in the Southland.

"high oil prices, Middle East tensions, local refinery incidents and refineries being brought down for maintenance"
Usual culprits? More like the "usual lame excuses".

Fuel prices are up 20 cents a gallon in Houston. So much for the purported news articles of our glut of oil, and prices would go down.

why wold maintenance and switch over to summer gas cause an increase... will we see a shortage? NO! do they have stock to bridge the shut down period? YE! so what is this hype that the shutdown causes a spike in prices?

Up 19 cents/gal. here with supplies still on the increase and demand still declining. This is sure to make sure our economy continues to deteriorate.
THANKS SPECULATORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
