Retiring Michigan car dealership owner surprises employees with $1,000 for each year of work

The Washington Post -- Before retiring, a Michigan car dealership owner wanted to thank his employees in a special way.

All 89 employees at the Howard Cooper Import Center in Ann Arbor were given $1,000 for each year of service to the 47-year-old auto dealership.

“The lady behind me had tears running down her face,” employee Sandy Reagan told AnnArbor.com (http://bit.ly/PbTtOA). “I sat next to a person who drives the parts van and he’s been here almost 28 years. He doesn’t make a ton of money, but he got almost $28,000.

“I watched his face and he just said, ‘Oh my God,’ ” said Reagan, who has been with the company 46 years.

I think the anti-Obama stupidity has reached a new low. This business was built 47 years ago. Do you insinuate that Obama has been president that long? Or what do you really mean?

It's so refreshing to see people doing the "right" thing. Appreciating, respecting and rewarding employees seems to be a thing of the past.

Vollee and Dragnet, how about keeping your nasty, mean-spirited garbage in the politics forum where it belongs. Don’t pollute a good news, good guy, happy story like this with such drivel. Kudos to Mr. Cooper; may he enjoy his well-earned retirement and may others learn from his generosity. Thanks for the great article, Z.

“The owner should have done more to keep the dealship [sic] open. Why didn't he give it to his son or sale [sic] it to another person to keep it open[?]”

Hey the Lib, try reading the article before posting a comment. From the article:
“Cooper sold the dealership in April to Ohio-based Germain Motor Co., and employee retention was part of the deal.”

Yeah, but remember he didn't take all the risk and do it alone so he HAS to be taxed extra and be burdened with ever expanding gov'mint mandates and regulations. Your Prez said so! And the anointed one can't be wrong!

And that sack of crap said today he would be willing to work with the Republicans if they would agree to raise taxes on the wealthy. That's this car dealer who shared his career good fortune. Wouldn't have been able to do that if the marxist leader had taxed all his profits over the years.

The Michigan car dealership is into importing cars and its bonuses to its 89 employees is also a measure of the success of the import car business. When a GM dealership can do the same thing will be a measure of the comeback success of the American car manufacturer. Certainly not holding my breath until then.

On of the 1%er who ISN'T GREEDY. America needs more people like this owner! He understands that with out the WORK of his employees, his dealership wouldn't of survived and profited for so long, and is thanking his workers!

Way to GO!
